THE 10 MOST COMMON OBJECTIONS TO CHRISTIANITY
Answering the “Questions of seekers, and the objections of
Critics...”
1. “I Don’t believe in God”
*Atheism requires
omniscience (all knowledge) *Agnosticism is
contradictory (Self-defeating)
Evidence for God’s
Existence: *Every “effect” has
a Cause *Creation requires
a Creator *Designs require a
Designer
*Communication
requires a Communicator *No moral law
without a
“Lawgiver”
God is
Personal:
*Universe had a beginning *This was
intentionally caused (an uncaused effect is an impossibility) *The “Causer” must
be personal, because He created persons (If God is not
personal, He is less developed than we)
2. “How is Jesus different from other
great men of history?”
Jesus is unique
in His: *Prophesied coming
*birth *life
*actions *Words
*death
*Resurrection Jesus is absolutely
unique, by virtue of Who He was; What He did; What He claimed about
Himself; What He did to
substantiate those claims.
3. “Aren’t there many roads to
heaven?
Don’t
all paths ultimately lead
to the same place?”
*What is your
authority? *Jesus taught that
He is the only way of
salvation: John
14:6 6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV) (Resurrection
confirmed Who He was;
Resurrection confirmed
what He taught)
“Pluralism
is a disease in the minds of the
terminally mediocre.” Prof Stanley
Hauerwas
4. “How do we know that Jesus rose
from the dead? And if
He did, how is that relevant to me?”
*Miracles are
possible *Scientific laws
are
descriptive of what
usually happens,
not
prescriptive
what
must happen. *Resurrection is a
miracle account, supported by sound historical evidence. *Resurrection
confirms what Jesus taught about the spiritual condition of all
persons.
5. "I've heard that the Bible is full of errors..."
Divine
Inspiration is evidenced by:
Biblical Unity
Indestructibility
historical accuracy
scientific accuracy
fulfilled
prophecy life-changing power
amazing circulation
6. "I don't think I'm a sinner.
I'm not so bad."
Refuted by man's awareness of objective morality, and man's
knowledge that He has transgressed this moral law
Refuted by the Bible (Ecc. 7:20, Is. 53:6, Romans 3:23, and others)
a book shown to be divinely
inspired
7. "Why is
there evil in the world?"
*Freewill actions,
mankind’s sinful deeds
*This question presupposes knowledge of objective morality;
(If there is no God, it makes no sense to complain about vice, or to
praise virtue) *Evil defeated by Christ, will be fully eradicated
one day,
Resurrection is our guarantee of this
8. "Christians are all hypocrites."
-Correct.
So are non-Christians.
You're in the group either way.
-Existence of counterfeit does not negate the reality of the genuine
-We are not asking you to invite a
Christian into your
heart, but Christ (Who
is most certainly NOT a hypocrite!)
9. "Christianity has spread many evils in the world.
Religion has been
responsible for many of history's cruelest deeds."
*Crimes done in the name of religion do not in any way represent the
teachings of true
Christianity
*Atrocities resulted when the pure teachings of Jesus were replaced
with worldly ambition, and lust for political power.
10. "God is love.
I don't believe God would condemn any one."
*make sure that the God you are believing in is, in fact, the true
God (Whose teaching on salvation is correct?
Either Jesus' is right (and
He rose from the
dead, or sinful, rebellious man is correct.
A person who can predict, orchestrate, and carry out His own
resurrection, carries
pretty strong authority!)
*God is not obligated to change Who He is, because of what we may
wrongly assume. *We are
obligated to amend our lives, in light of what God has plainly
disclosed. *Truth of Christianity is not contingent upon how many
have, or have not heard. *You
can't say that you haven't heard!

must keep their priorites right.
I try to keep God first because the Bible tells us if we
put him first all the rest will be provided.

John 3:16-17
16. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
17. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but to save the world through him. NIV
